Initial Visit |

To provide maximum support to families, our staff work in the environment in which families live. Families are complex, an interactive system, with their own established values, structures, and functions. It is essential for staff to fully understand the emotional impact on a family's structure when children have special needs. Therefore, staff prefer to visit families in families' homes beginning with the first visit. However, if a parent prefers to meet at a different location, staff will make other arrangements. Staff will also meet with the families at times that are convenient for the families. We are available in the evening and on weekends.
The initial conversations are a wonderful opportunity for staff to establish the family as the decision-maker. It is a time for the family and the Solutions CEDARR team to create a relationship that is sound and trusting. Lastly, staff will ask the parent to sign a "Consent" form for CEDARR services and also "Release of Information" forms. Outside information helps staff develop an Initial Family Assessment by understanding the full array of past and present services as well as any specialty evaluations that may have been administered.
