| Home Page |
A genogram provides a fascinating view into the richness of a family's dynamics. A genogram is a pictorial representation of patterns and relationships across several generations. It clearly shows all the people who genetically, emotionally, and legally comprise a family. In addition, genograms can include additional important relationships among individuals outside of a family structure.
Solutions CEDARR staff develop a genogram during a family's first few visits to help staff get to know the family's dynamics and understand the patterns and the issues. It records significant life events, individual characteristics, occupations, education, and emotional relationships which provide a more complete understanding of the family makeup. Although our genogram process is different than described in the following link from a different organization, it gives you an idea of what a genogram looks like and how it can be helpful.
